Steampunk Central at Whitby Goth Weekend

This weekend STEAMPUNK CENTRAL will be open for business at their Whitby home, Whitby Rifle Club. (see my events tab for details of the venue)

During the day there will be plenty of Steampunk traders selling their wares in the Steampunk Market – jewellery, hats, cards and all manner of paraphernalia.
Trading times are 12.00 pm (or earlier if ready) till 5 pm on Friday, Saturday 10 am till 5pm and on Sunday 10 30 till 4.30.

In the evenings the social side takes over and Steampunk Central is proud to announce’ GLADSTONE’ will be playing on Friday evening.

Doors open 8 pm - band on at 8.30 pm.
£5 entry on the door.

Saturday evening’ The Major’ , and The Cogneys .

Doors open 7.30
£5 entry on the door.

Sunday evening
Steampunk Pub Quiz and Game Show night, Special Guest ‘Mike Stand’

New Artwork

Here’s the first new pic I’ve done for ages, and this was a couple of weeks ago now. I’ve been so busy tinkering with the website and being out at fairs that I haven’t had a lot of time for doing my digital collages. I’l make this one up as a 3d card and sooner or later it will appear for download in the emporium. In the meantime I’ve added a few new people to the Arcade so do take a look. The site had a few problems during my upgrading – I broke the new theme and had to spend some time mending it as well as plenty of wasted time testing out other themes – none of which I liked as much as this one, which is Flashlight by Kriesi at Themeforest. They were really helpful in trying to find out what the problem was, and considering the size of their support forum the lead times weren’t too bad. I’ve updated the shop software to Woo Commerce – which is free – and the Flashlight theme supports it fully. I’ll also be getting to grips with all the portfolio features when I can and hopefully get up galleries of most of my sold items.

The George Centre in Grantham

I’m trading at the George Centre in Grantham today, where there are stilt walking jugglers and other fun stuff going on as well as stalls of all kinds. It coincides with Belton Horse Trials but I’m glad to be indoors as the weather’s taken a colder turn.

New Section Added – the Arcade

I’ve added a new section to the site called the Arcade. This will be the place where other steapunk and likeminded traders can have their own pages so that visitors can find – and buy – a larger selection of items within the genre.

First up, and my guinea pig, is Jessica Roebuck’s Made by Peggy range of (mostly) gentlemen’s accessories like cufflinks, cravats, etc. Take a look. Click on and/or Hover over The Arcade tab and you’ll see ‘Hand Made by Peggy’. Click on that and you’ll be taken to her page.

So thanks to Jessica for being willing to give it a go, and let’s hope I can get The Arcade filled up with others who want to join in soon!

New Jewellery for Spring

Have been busy making new jewellery – here are the latest offerings. Charm bracelets are very labour intensive and use lots of pieces. Considering the time taken I was quite surprised to find how little it seemed when I took the photos!

Imaginarium back after a bit of a glitch

Sorry folks – just noticed that the Imaginarium wasn’t working – don’t know how long that’s been out for but I’ve managed to fix it. The only weird thing seems to be that some items are repeated and I’ll have to look into that a bit later on.

Site Undergoing Revamp at the moment – please excuse malfunctions in design and usability

I’m giving the site a complete revamp with a new theme and a new shop software. It’s taking a lot longer than I hoped with a few teething troubles but I think it will be worth the effort once it’s done. Apart from the design features that are taking up my time, I have 2012 craft events to prepare for and make stock for. I sold so much over the Christmas period that I don’t have enough stock to set up stall with in Lincoln next Saturday.

So I am burning the midnight (and beyond) oil at the moment and tearing my hair out trying to get everything sorted. The Imaginarium should still be working OK but the Emporium is having the greatest revamp and there’s little or no stock available from it as yet.

Christmas Diary Dates … and a quick update

Well it’s been a while, due in part to burglars attempting to steal the copper in our telephone cables. We’ve had five outtages in six months, with no internet or phone for around 4 days each time. Also, I’ve been busy out and about socialising (Asylum, Whitby, etc) and selling with no time to update the site as I’ve been to busy making things in my spare time.

Anyway, it’s the major craft fair season now, and my ‘appearances’ until Christmas are as follows:

27 November – Grantham Christmas event – in the Arts Centre
1st and 2nd December – some items at the POPUP SHOP in Peterborough (it’s in the ‘Old Still’ where Westgate Arcade joins Queensgate)
3rd and 4th December – Leicester Guildhall
8,9,10 December – PopUp Shop as before
11 December – Green Backyard in Peterborough
15,16,17 and 21 December – PopUp Shop as before.

Had a brilliant show at Sywell last weekend with Pennine Fairs, the first time I had shown with them. Will definitely use them again as there was a steady stream of visitors for both days and over 90 stallholders. Excellent.
It would be nice to get some of my artwork up for sale and download before Christmas, so I’ll try and fit it in (copper wire thieves permitting of course) and some pics of my latest jewellery – but it seems that as soon as it’s made it’s on sale and I haven’t had time to take decent pics of anything recently.

I can’t get onto fellfromgrace from my pc at the moment due to a virus/spyware. I’ve been away for a few days and will need to sort this out now I’m back. Currently it’s just from the BlackBerry which is a little redtricting. Hopefully back online with some artwork to download soon
